The Steel Blue Difference
Airport Friendly.
Leave metal detectors speechless.
The safety toecaps in the Steel Blue Airport Friendly range are non-metallic. This pioneering technology offers the following advantages:
• 40% lighter than steel toecaps • Will not set off security alarms or metal detectors
• Can be X-rayed
• Will not transmit electricity
• Insulate the toes from heat and cold
• Will not rust
• Manufactured to resist acid*, alkali* and fuel oil*
• Heat resistant to 60°C/140°F
Hassle-Free in security environments
The metal free toecap will not set off security alarms. Wearing Steel Blue with Airport Friendly Toe Caps you’ll be able to move through airports without the usual hassles when entering security environments.
The Airport Friendly toecap exceeds all required impact and compression tests required by Australian/ New Zealand Standards 2210.3, American and European 200 Joule impact tests as per safety footwear standards.
Airport Friendly Toecaps are recommended for the following industries.
• Cold storage • Petrochemical
• Courier and parcel delivery • Food processing
• Postal services
• Powder coating
Our revolutionary Airport Friendly technology was developed by Steel Blue after many requests from a wide range of industries. Whilst the composite toecap offers many advantages, it will not completely replace the traditional Steel Safety Toecap.
PLEASE NOTE: Non-metal composite materials do not have the same cut and penetration resistance as Steel Safety Toecaps. Therefore, they should not be used around powered cutting or grinding devices or nail guns.
It should be noted there’s a safety footwear standard specifically for chainsaw boots. While Airport Friendly footwear does not pass this chainsaw standard, neither do normal Steel Toecap boots. For further information on chainsaw cut resistant footwear refer to: AS/NZS 2210.6:2001
Steel Blue conducted a range of additional 200 joule impact tests to confirm suitability on hundreds of Aiprort Friendly toecaps. Prior to impact testing the toecaps were subjected to one of the following treatments for 24 hours.
• Acid (sulphuric acid) • Alkali (sodium hydroxide solution)
• Fuel Oils (isooctane) • Oleic acid
• Heated to +60°C for 24 hours • Frozen at –28°C for 16 hours
After the above exposure, the Airport Friendly toecap was impact tested to 200 Joules and passed every test.
